Galen Wang is an associate in Murphy & Evertz’ real estate litigation, eminent domain and land use practice groups. Prior to starting at Murphy & Evertz, Mr. Wang represented national and international clients in civil litigation matters, including products liability, toxic tort, and environmental litigation cases. Mr. Wang regularly advises private property owners, business owners, real estate developers, and public agencies in all aspects of eminent domain and inverse condemnation matters. 

Representative Matters and Clients - Public Agency Focus

County of Riverside: Assisting the County with the condemnation necessary for infrastructure improvements, including the Gilman Springs Road Widening Project. Provide counsel and assist the Facilities Management Department with the condemnation required to develop county facilities.

Orange County Flood Control District: Providing special eminent domain counsel to the District to assist in acquiring property for the Santa Ana River Mainstem/ Prado Dam Project. The District is partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Flood Control Districts of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties on this project.

Representative Matters and Clients - Landowner Focus

Carsten Co., LLC adv. City of Corona: Represented owners of former Food 4 Less shopping center property in Corona, California, facing condemnation of a portion of the property for a grade separation project. The City initially offered $387,000. The case settled for $3,500,000 plus costs and interest - - nearly ten times the amount of the initial offer.  

BPL, LLC adv. City of Corona: Represented owners of multi-tenant shopping center property and gas station business in Corona, California, facing condemnation of a portion of the property for a grade separation project. The City initially offered $1,113,000. The case settled for $4,050,000.

14241 Firestone L.P adv. Caltrans: Represented owner of multi-tenant commercial office building in La Mirada, California, in an inverse condemnation action brought against Caltrans due to its continued unauthorized use of the property for construction activity on the Interstate 5 Freeway Widening and Improvement Project. Caltrans initially offered to compromise for $600,000. The case settled for $1,425,000. 

Representative Matters and Clients - Land Use & Water Rights

Indian Wells Valley Water District: Providing special litigation counsel to the District in multiple actions involving rights to groundwater in the Indian Wells Valley Groundwater Basin, including a comprehensive adjudication of the Basin.

Orange County Water District v. Sabic Innovative Plastics US, LLC, et al.: Represented Accurate Circuit Engineering, Inc. in a complex environmental litigation matter involving dozens of defendants who may have contributed to the release of chemicals of concern from their respective properties, leading to groundwater and subsurface contamination in the South Basin Area. Mr. Wang assisted with discovery matters and assisted with settling the matter for his client.

Hot Rods v. Northrop Grumman Systems Corp.: Represented Northrop Grumman in ongoing litigation involving an environmentally compromised property and the alleged damages stemming from environmental cleanup and related issued.
